According to a recent study by Verisign, the Internet gained 11 million domain name registrations in 2009 to reach a total of 192 million at the end of the year.

Actually, according to the study, the .com concentrates itself more than 84 million domain registrations. The .cn and .de are just behind. The figures has been published 3 days ago by the American Verisign. Indeed, this company is itself a manager of addresses in .com, .net, .tv or .jobs. Verisign had requested ZookNIC to request the data. The competition between Domain Names- Within the different addresses, the .com is the more successful; with a total of more than 84 million domain names. And just behind, the extensions which are the most requested are .cn (China), .de (Germany), .net and co.uk (United Kingdom). The .eu comes in fifth position of domain names in the category of ccTLDs (country code Top Level Domain).
