A new project is born: OSOE (one student one ERP). Its goal? Giving to each student from partner universities an ERP. Then, the student will be able to connect to his ERP environment whenever he wants to and for free.
A program which is already shown its ability- Actually, the OSOE program was already launched a few months ago in the Universities of Lille 1 (France) and Dakar and it was a great success. Sabine Leroy, Assistant Professor at the IT Department of Telecom Lille1 says: "Thanks to TioLive Cloud Computing platform we are able to teach the fundamentals of ERP configuration to our students. During the lecture, each student is requested to configure an ERP for a small company and must face the reality of small businesses. Our students now understand the technological, social and organizational challenges related to software implementation." Students' knowledge in IT is quite weak- According to me, this program could really increase students awareness about new issues such as the importance of computing in businesses or definitions cloud computing. Did you know that almost no student in Management Science is able to tell what is an ERP and what is Cloud Computing? This is what I noticed when I was in an eBusiness class less than a year ago. Only 3/30 could actually give a definition. OSOE: a positive initiative both for businesses and futur workers- Students' knowledge in IT is quite weak OSOE could be a really positive initiative. Indeed, it can enable students to understand better our new business world. It can prepare them to use a management software before arriving in companies. Then, it could help to modernize SMB: all the volunteer SMB are required to send their business case to implement them an ERP (for free). Besides, when they have graduated and they arrive in SMB, students will be able to advise their structure to modernize their accounting system for example or to explain them the advantages to outsource their information system.
